AYUR-Yoga
Yoga & Āyurveda
How we behave on the mat is how we behave in life.
Small shifts in your practice can transform everything.
These sessions bring together the sister sciences of Āyurveda and Yoga to support balanced energy and health.
Emily loves teaching. Her work is to help you move through blind spots in your body and mind.
This is how you can shift your energy and apprach to life.
What to expect from Ayur -Yoga sessions:
Asana (poses) | body alignment and posture checks - observing blind spots - strengthening practices - longer holds for focus and strength
Breathwork | pranayama (breath work) sequences to balance overall energy
Meditation | stillness practice - breath awareness (anapana) - mantra
Energy | subtle energy practices to move stagnant energy and beliefs
Yoga in Sanskrit translates as union. The definition of Āyurveda is the ancient system of health and medicine, the science of life and living well.
Āyur-Yoga has a key focus on restoring overall balance for body, mind and spirit
Joining Emily’s sessions you will hear her refer to Āyurvedic terms such as:
Agni | The digestive fire
The three Doshas | Biological humours | Vāta, Pitta, Kapha
Three Gunas | Qualities of the mind | Rajas, Tamas, Sattva
You don’t need to be familiar with these terms in order to attend her sessions. You will receive guidance and support, feeling the benefits at whichever level you are embarking on.
Explored together, these therapeutic disciplines can offer you different perspectives on the way you approach yoga through:
Asana | Body posture and poses
Pranayama | Breathing techniques
Meditation | Presence and awareness
Whether you are practicing on the mat or integrating the practice into your everyday life off the mat, Emily provides transformative tools for your digestion and overall health and well-being.
