4 essential & SIMPLE things for your health, life and sanity!

I am writing this post from Withiel, a tiny parish tucked away in inland Cornwall, next to Bodmin moor.

I have been here with my partner for 6 days.

We leave tomorrow.

A week of re-remembering:

I have always loved the outdoors.

Despite living in London for a LONG period of time now… my inner compass tells me when I need to breathe GREEN.

This week I have done just that. It’s involved:

  • breathing bucket fulls of fresh, clean Cornish countryside air

  • walking in the lush fields and mossy forests - including slipping in cow pats!

  • drinking clear, pure spring water - my goodness the difference from the London chlorinated, limed TAP!)

  • swimming in rivers and paddled in streams - the water here is SO soft and nourishing- my skin feels alive!

  • made time for quiet and rest - listening to the sounds of the wind, braying horses and the odd mooing cow!

  • laughing so much I have cried!

This has been A PERFECT recharge.
Of course I feel immense gratitude to be able to do this AND make time for it.

This has also been A REMINDER of FOUR essential and SIMPLE things that my overall health, wellness (and state of sanity(!)) depends on.

Before I share them, know this:

  • They are PRIMITIVE.

  • YOU know them already…  Phew- there is nothing new to learn!

  • They are simple AND ESSENTIAL in my view.

Overall health (and YOUR sanity!) relies on 4 essential & simple things.

And they are:

  • Clean air

  • Clean water  (non chlorinated, limed, city tap) water to drink and wash in;

  • Fresh wholesome food/ ideally freshly cooked and using seasonal, local/organic foods

  • Connecting with kind, loving (interesting) and supportive people

Let’s look at these in relation to URBAN DAILY living.

I live in the city...well for the meantime anyhow  (change is perhaps afoot😉!)

Clean AIR

We need to draw in clean air daily. To release and detoxify the lungs and our whole system.

What can YOU do?

Walks in parks in London- Go when less people are there. Early morning of evening times. Even when it rains as there are less people and more space to breathe!

If I can get out to bigger park spaces such as-  Richmond, Wimbledon common, or the RIVER tow paths. This allows time in more expansive areas.

More recently I have gotten out on DAY TRIPS to Ashdown forest, there is also the Seven sisters cliff walks on th eSussex coast. All doable by train.

PRANA power! Exercising outside in CLEAN air is key for welcoming in more vitality.

Clean WATER

When was the last time you looked in your kettle?

Yes this is all I have to do to feel grossed out by what travels in the London tap water.

And I also feel sad that the heavy LIME, chlorinated (and goodness knows what else) water is what I wash with daily. I mean no wonder dry skin,… dry hair etc… becomes so prevalent for many of my clients and myself!

I’m going to let you in to my TOP suggestion… last year I invested in a BERKEY water filter.

They are relatively inexpensive and don’t require being fitted by a plumber etc.

And I LOVE it!

It has transformed the taste of water that I drink and cook with. My kettle has had a fairly new lease of life too FYI!

FYI- I've yet to find a solution for washing/showering with!

Fresh, wholesome cooked foods

I’ve shared it numerous times I know…

Cooking fresh meals each day is so grounding, healing AND… massively contributes to a greater source of vitality within.

Here’s a TOP tip to eating fresh and feeling VIBRANT:

Stick to a 24 hour rule- Ayurveda (and most traditional cultures) support that any cooked food that sits longer than 24 hours is best to LIMIT/avoid.

The nutrients/prana (life force) is dying rapidly and will cease to exist after 24 hours…

In Ayurveda the food is said to become heavy and dulling for your body and mind.

Connecting with kind, loving (interesting) and supportive people

WOW this one is also KEY!

Never underestimate the power that energy can offer. Energy is contagious.

If you spend time with loving, kind, supportive, open minded people- the impact it is going to have on your overall sense of self and outlook is profound.

You also know that this is the same spending time with negative people.

Our daily 7am zoom meditations have brought such joy!
